No suit of armor is complete without a chestplate. On its own, chestplates can extend a player's health during combat. However, with enchantments both durability and a player's overall life can be extended.
Today I’m going to countdown all 9 chestplate enchantments from worst to best. This list is as of June 2020.
9. Curse of Binding

Curse of Binding is a chestplate enchantment available in the Java Edition of Minecraft. The enchantment can be used through an enchantment table, anvil, or through in-game commands.The maximum level for Curse of Binding is I.
What Makes Curse of Binding Great:
It allows players to curse a chestplate. With this curse, the item cannot be removed until it breaks or the player dies.
Applicable to all armor and the elytra.
8. Curse of Vanishing

Curse of Vanishing is a chestplate enchantment available in both Java and Bedrock Edition of Minecraft. The enchantment can be added through an enchantment table, anvil and in-game commands. The maximum level for Curse of Vanishing is I.
Players who are wearing a chestplate with curse of vanishing will have their chestplate disappear upon death.
If players are killed by another player, this enchantment prohibits enemy players from acquiring your chestplate.
7. Mending

Mending is an enchantment applicable to chestplates that is supported in Java, and Bedrock Edition. The enchantment can be added through an enchantment table, anvil, and through in-game commands. The maximum level for mending is I.
What Makes Mending Great:
Mending uses xp orbs to mend chestplates and other armor.
Extra XP will be added to the player's experience bar. So you aren’t completely out of future enchantment levels.
6. Thorns

Thorns is a unique enchantment. It is the only chestplate enchantment that gives players the ability to do some damage. Supported in both Java and Bedrock, this enchantment has a maximum level of III.
What Makes Thorns Great:
When attacked, players with thorns equipped will deal damage to players simply for wearing thorns armor.
Depending on the level of enchantment, damage varies.
Fire protection is one of several protection oriented chestplate enchantments available to players. Supported on both Java and Bedrock, this enchantment has a maximum level of IV.
What Makes Fire Protection Great:
Once equipped, it reduces the damage of fire and lava to players.
The higher the level the more powerful the reduction.
4. Blast Protection

Blast Protection is a protection enchantment for chestplates that is supported in both Java and Bedrock Edition. The maximum level for Blast Protection if IV.
What Makes Blast Protection Great:
Once equipped, it reduces the damage from explosions.
Covers explosions by TNT, Creepers, Ghasts, Wither Boss explosions, and ender crystals.
3. Projectile Protection

Projectile Protection is an enchantment supported in both Java and Bedrock Edition. A protection enchantment that has a maximum level of IV.
What Makes Projectile Protection:
Gives players who equip it reduced damage against projectile attacks.
Attacks reduced include arrows, ghast fireballs, and blaze fire charges.
2. Unbreaking

The Unbreaking enchantment is another durability enchantment similar to mending. However, unlike mending it is stronger and processes a higher maximum level of III. This enchantment is supported in both Java and Bedrock Edition.
What Makes Unbreaking Great:
Increases the durability of your chestplate so it won’t wear out as quickly.
The greater the level the longer the chestplate’s durability.

The most powerful protection enchantment for chestplate is the general Protection enchantment. This enchantment has a maximum level of IV and is supported by Java and Bedrock editions.
What Makes Protection Great:
It provides general protection against every type of damage a player can take.
The higher the enchantment level the greater the protection.
NOTE: combining protection with other types of protection enchantments (blast, and projectile) will provide extra protection against specific areas of damage.
That concludes my ranking of every chestplate enchantment in Minecraft. Whether you are rocking leather armor or you have managed to get yourself a set of diamond armor, these enchantments will improve your chestplates ability tremendously.
